With the same CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS, GCC 4.3.0 produces the code which is on average
1-5% bigger then the code produced by GCC 4.2.3.

My usual c|c++ flags are: -march=pentium2 -O2 -pipe -ftree-vectorize

I've tested wine 0.9.58 and KDE 3.5.9.
