Sources retrieved with
svn merge -r HEAD:'{2007-10-04}' .
lead to the seg fault reported by Gerald. So the
problem was introduced between 2007-10-03 and
2007-10-04.
Also, note that the problem does not appear in
x86_64-*-freebsd.
