These tests passed with r122746 and fail starting with r122749:

The .log gives no further clues.  In previous runs, even those with the host
system under load, these tests have never failed, and now they fail every time.
Authors of two patches in this range CC:ed.  Though I'll assign this PR to
myself while I'm investigating; I hope to at least be able to remove one name.
