gcc version 4.0.3 (Debian 4.0.3-1) So that is two rather different gcc versions. One is x86-64, the other is 32-bit PowerPC. Am I wrong to assume that the latest gcc behaves this way? -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=27235
