"make" worked fine with gcc-3.4.x, gcc-3.3.x, gcc-2.9x etc. And for i386 and amd64 it worked just fine, too, for gcc 4.0.3 with these same versions of GMP and MPFR to build fortran. Is this a solaris specific issue? -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=26889
