Sorry to resort to email, but the required info and means of delivery is a bit 
beyond my present abilities.
I was following instructions from LinuxQuestions.org > Forums > Linux -

SMTP AUTH Howto. The make for cyrus-sasl-2.1.19.tar.gz from

On a pretty plain vanilla slackware 10 server. The 2.1.21 version simply failed 
make withou a message. 
I installed the GLIBC_2.3.4 slackware package as requested by sendmail 2.13.4.
I will send whatever other output is required but would appreciate it if you 
could indicate the appropriate commands.

Meanwhile, I shall try to run a version of the cyrus source previous to 2.19.
