Very interesting, in fact. You know what, Wolfgang? Sooner or later we should write a FAQ/guidelines/whatever about those topics. Personally, I learned a lot of it by trial and error, without a clear guide, and whereas there are some good docs around about C, a lot less is available for the C++-specific issues.
