Which is why PR 14236 is still open :) In fact I said the FSF's gcc did not have it in my first comment when I marked this as a dup because you can complain there. But note the warning shows what happens now with VLA/alloca so in that sense the warning is correct, if you want the behavor to change it is a very hard problem to fix. -- http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19881
