This is an Ubuntu problem that does not make Qt3 use the GTK+ system colors, 
but does make Qt4 use them.

The dialog sizes are different because in Gambas dialog sizes are proportional 
to the font size, and because the proportional factor is not the same between 
Gambas 2 and Gambas 3.

As for the UI beauty, as you said, this is a matter of subjective taste. And 
above all, habits!
