Sally, yes obviously a Guaranteed Annual Income. And of course the
complete seperation of "work" (what one does with one's time in a
socially and personally meaningful and peaceful way) from one's legitimate
access to goods and services.

It is a long story, which I (and others) have repeated endlessly, but the
entire structure of advertising and consumer credit, as well as the
enormous glut of all material goods, including food (in the face of
poverty and starvation), on the one hand, and the legitimate concerns of
"limits to growth" perspectives (plus tens of thousands of years of human
experience of subsistence affluence in hunting and gathering societies,
some of which still partially function in my part of the world as evidence
of how to "live peaceful and meaningful lives without working") on the
other hand, all clearly show that we can and should change our current
economic system, based, as it is, on myths, lies and purposeful
distortions, to one which more clearly reflects what is possible and
desirable in terms of human activities and resources.
