1 PCI slot is plenty for me. I don't use any expansion slots with this motherboard, in fact. I capture with an HD PVR which connects over USB. > Couple questions here. I haven't tried your 24-bit sample that you posted in mplayer-users yet, but all the s32le content I've tried works, and I've tried 5, 6, and 8 channel content. (Although I have noticed a bit of audio artifacting with 32-bit content, sounds like clipping. I need to dig in a bit more to isolate the problem. I don't think it's MPlayer anymore though.) > Also, not sure if you're in a position to test this but on > my Intel g45 board, the hdmi output skips the first .25 > seconds or so of a stream which is the reason I'm looking > hard at Nvidia. I've noticed this as well, but I suspect the root cause is my AVR's mode changing. Using an audio server like jack or pulseaudio should alleviate that problem, because while the audio server is running the output mode is fixed. I've played with jack but am not happy with its stability.
