As you know by now, your FreeType GSoC projects have been selected – congratulations, and welcome! It is a pleasant surprise that we actually have the possibility to mentor all three of you. * Anurag will continue with integrating Raph Levien's 'font-rs' project as an alternative FreeType rendering module – for personal reasons it was not possible to properly finish this last year. * Craig plans to implement a 'capabilities database' to the FreeType auto-hinter that should greatly enhance hinting for problematic characters like 'i' or 'ã'. * Ahmet will work on integrating `ftbench` into FreeType's build structure to get a basic performance benchmarking framework. First of all, please subscribe to the 'freetype-devel' mailing list in case you haven't already done so. This is *the* major contact to us mentors, together with the greater wisdom of all people interested in FreeType development. It is of vital importance that you communicate with us! BTW, please neither do top-posting nor use HTML e-mails if possible. Now is the time to set up your working environments and ask related questions. We hope that you are as excited as we are :-) I (Werner) plan to give you write access to the FreeType repository so that you can set up personal branches.
