On a related note, Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome have recently
enabled gamma correction as evidenced by a clean look of
https://www.freetype.org/freetype2/docs/rasterinfo/rasterinfo.html in
those browsers.
Perhaps, Mozilla Firefox will follow the suit soon too. It is
important to polish and optimize stem darkening, which is intended to
play along with the gamma correction.
