you can change the cachememsize online:
ldapmodify ........................................
dn: cn=<your backend name>,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config
changetype: modify
replace: nsslapd-cachememsize
nsslapd-cachememsize: <new size>
But I would also increase the dbcache size, which would require a
restart to be effective.
So you could also stop DS, edit /etc/dirsrv/slapd-<your instance>/dse.ldif
search all *cache* attributes and replace the valu.
