You are probably hitting: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1071969 For me this resulted in symted error messages on bootup and slowed the boot to 15-20min. Applying the following patch corrected this: https://git.fedorahosted.org/cgit/initscripts.git/commit/?h=rhel7-branch&id=3deb3b3c177dd24b22cf912cd798aeaa7e35d30b I guess this is fixed in RHEL 7.1.
