Just to chime in on this. I'm not 100% this isn't a bug, as I've also hit the same issue after an update. In the end, I've had to re-create the effected accounts with the same UID and GID after deletion, which is resolving the issue for me as I wasn't able to find a solution using the mail-list archives.
