All I know is that a recent update on my two mediaplayers has installed a very basic nsswitch.conf, and my first attempt to fix it was to run ipa-client- install --uninstall followed by ipa-client-install -U, but that did *not* "fix" my nsswitch.conf file - so I was kind of blaming the lack of authselect... I'm not exactly all that firm in debian related things...
