Hi Victoria,
I just tried to download some additional files with fdnpkg16 and FDT2511 from ibibiblio.
I am not sure what is the reason, but in the last time the download from ibiblio is often very bad.
Today I got several: "ERROR OCCURED -1" at least from the folders "SOUND" and UNIX.
Maybe the ibiblio server has problems in the last time? Or is it a problem with fdnpkg16?
Would it be possible to replace the server by another one?
One more question that has nothing to do with you, but with the FreeDOS test versions:
The unofficial kernel is "available" for almost half a year now, but in reality it cannot be downloaded
via fdnpkg / fdnpkg16 without changing the fdnpkgxx.cfg file manually. Only a few people know this.
Is there still any reason (except one mail that I can remember) why it is kept away from the testers???
Especially, as if you download this much better kernel, it installs to C:\freedos\bin, means: it is not installed automatically, the
tester has to make a second step to be able to use it (yes, I know sys, but copying kernel.sys from C:\FD\bin to c:\
always worked for me till now).
Is there a problem with the maintainer or why does nothing go on?
In the meantime one more kernel bug has been fixed (Jeromes CD problem) - but still nothing happens.
I do not say that it has to be implemented at once into an official version, but for test purposes it should be
downloadable without problems!
The FDT project started because of things like this. FDNPKG16 had not such problems (sorry, Victoria).
Willi / Fritz
