I just tried this in DOSBOX-X and it indeed beeps rather loudly on a TAB
in the command line, which seems to be the response to an illegal
character entry in that case, though it doesn't do this all the time.
I had accidentally closed DOSBOX-X and opened it up again, and on a
second try, nothing was beeping. It did toggle through the completion
options without making any noise. 😮
But in any case, no FreeCOM involved...
