I don't understand clearly what it is about.

So I will try to give an idea of what I believe it is, so

that you can correct easily my bad understanding.

X have made a program A that let you find what is

the packet driver you need for your network card,

and make sure it is booted either in config.sys or

fdauto.bat. This program was released under GPL

version 2. But program A integrate program B that

was released under GPL version 3.

I only suppose program B is a program to detect

which network card is being in the computer released

by author Y under GPL version 3.

So when Y told X that he was not ok

for program A, or any program released in version 2 of the GPL

to integrate code released in GPL version 3, X made all versions

of A to disappear from Internet.

And now, a few weeks later it seems to me, X have not given

news how he think it will handle the issue. An obvious solution

would be for X to release A under GPL version 3... but I have

this feeling X might be oppose to version 3 of the GPL.

So we are kind of waiting for X to say do something, before

continuing with release of 1.3RC5... I think.

At least if we want relatively easy network configuration.

If a version of A with B part removed was published, even if

it does nothing usefull, it would be easier to see what is the problem,

and do a constructive suggestion of a way to replace B by something else.
