I saw a post on HN the other day that of a light weight OSS FAT12/16/32 implementation intended for Microcontrollers (including 8-bit MCU!) [0][1]. Perusing the author's website, I find that it is a subset of another FAT implementation for MCUs that includes an exFAT [2].
To me it is an interesting thought experiment to see if this might be included in FreeDOS or maybe benchmarked against FreeDOS's FAT implementation. There's work in that, for sure. But an interesting thought to me, nonetheless.
