Thanks for looking into this! The idea is good, although the behavior 
definitely should be configurable. If the computer has only one user, 
this one user wants perhaps to see the attempted passwords - this may 
provide a clue about who attempted to log in.

I created "Password" (later renamed to "FreeDOS Password") some 19 years 
ago. Back then, logging passwords enabled me to know whether it was my 
little sister that tried to use my computer or someone else.
