Off-topic:

Turbo Pascal 4.0 had units in 1987. Extended Pascal had modules around
that time too (1988). Of course Modula-2 had them too since forever
(1979-80), thus so did Oberon (1986-8). I guess Ada did as well
(1983).

I'm sure you know that C/C++ don't really have proper modules, but
there has been some very serious talk of adding them to C++17.
