Is the ASUS system actually treating FreeDOS differently than Windows? That is, does Windows boot properly from the HDD (but FreeDOS doesn't) even if the HDD is not first in the BIOS boot order? Does MS-DOS or PC-DOS or DR-DOS or ... boot properly?
