Thanks! It's good to know we have some alternate hosting options if we need
to go there.
I asked SF about options for sending email from project web, for example
from a MediaWiki. They think they can set up this configuration, and
continue to work on that. Here's the part of his email that mentioned that:
>>>>>>
[will local installs of MediaWiki be able to send email, like when creating
new editor accounts?] Theoretically yes. That said, while we plan to do so,
we haven't tested the configuration in this exact instance yet.
We're working on some documentation to aid users in the migration from the
Hosted App to the Project web space. However, the docs are still in
progress for a few reasons.
Primarily, there's a platform limitation that we still need to fix which
currently prevents newer versions of MediaWiki from being installed to
Project web (1.16.x is the latest that can be installed).
Secondarily, we want to make sure to have the OpenID support for our site
before we consider the docs "done".
Additionally, a user has contributed considerable instructions on general
MediaWiki migration, but these are not very SourceForge specific, so while
it's a good starting point, we still need to fix and clean that up.
