Does anyone have experience with building FreeCom under Open Watcom?
I've been able to build it (Thanks Bart!) but see a couple of issues:
The REN command does not work if the file to be renamed does not have an
extenstion.
For example the command "REN myfile myfile.txt" fails. There is also some
strange behavior on the COPY
command in some cases that is somewhat similar.
When compiling without XMS Swap the critical error handler does not work - it
either crashes
the system (real hardware) or generates an exception (VM).
Just want to make sure I'm building this thing correctly. Has anyone else
tried it?
Also on the file size of COMMAND.COM I'm looking at 85-90 k with both Open
Watcom and Borland C - quite a bit bigger than
the 66K or so I've seen in released versions. I'm building the current head
from the repository.
