But it is the latest available for download!

To be honest, I need an OS to test old computers, which I can install
very quickly and which shows that they boot up and work, that the hard
disk has no bad blocks, etc. I thought DOS would be quicker & easier
than Linux for this, and is less intimidating: no login, nice familiar
C prompt, etc.

For my purposes, I just need something simple and stable to format the
hard disk & show it boots. I don't care all that much about actually
running programs, but I thought that maybe I could help to demonstrate
what DOS can do. At the moment, the system as installed from the
"full" CD image doesn't do this very well, even though it contains
lots & lots of programs.
