Hi! I'm glad that you want to contribute to FreeDOS in this way.
However, rather than writing a completely new version of EDIT from
scratch, it would be better to provide patches that improve our
FreeDOS EDIT. There is too much that has already been built into our
FreeDOS EDIT (for example, to make it operate more like MS-DOS EDIT)
to simply throw all that away and start fresh (and with all new bugs.)

Could I convince you to instead create patches that improve our
current FreeDOS EDIT? (Note that Aitor is working on a new version of
EDIT, so you may want to contact him off-list to see what has already
been done.)
