Hi!

Indeed, it is always a very good idea to have a look at the FAQ
first when you ask a FreeDOS question which is "popular to ask" :-)

Nice FAQ but got a bit off topic ;-) Size limits are 2 gb for compatible
fat16 and 128 gb or maybe 32 gb for compatible fat32, but if you use the
freedos tools instead of windows ones, the main limit is your BIOS. If it
supports no lba, limit is 8 gb. If only lba28 is supported, limit is 128
gigabytes and if lba48 is supported, limit is 2 terabyte (because the DOS
partitioning scheme only supports 32 bit sector numbers, not 48 bit).

You CAN have those 2 terabytes in ONE fat32 partition but it will be very
slow and bloated. I think Alain should not make his "install so that the
PC ONLY contains DOS" use ALL the available space. He should instead set
his installer to ALWAYS use 7 GB (or 30 or 120) and leave the rest empty.

Better for the efficiency of DOS. Will work on all computers which have
at least 7 (or 30 or 120) GB disk size. To work even on very old PC with
no LBA BIOS support, 7 GB is the right choice. I hope that all harddisks
with less than that size have been moved to museums by now :-).

PS: Can anybody compile fdisk? The LBA and disk detection really
need repairs and the "delete partition table on read error" thing
definitely must be disabled.
