Thanks all for taking FreeDOS to where it is. Since the time when personal commitments no longer allowed me the luxury to contribute, this team has taken FreeDOS forward and met the project's goal. We now have a stable MS-DOS replacement that is open source and supported. I thank you for your kind words and I also want to thank you for your contributions. The success of this project is the result of the time and effort donated by all its developers and supporters, and I appreciate what you have done.
Until I left hp ~2.5 years ago, I was restricted in my activities. I strictly adhered to company policies, and I continued developing experimental kernels and microkernels on my own time. Some of that development may be applicable to FreeDOS, much of it is not. I now work for Vonage and my professional activities no longer conflict with this open source development activity. I'm getting restless and want to play again :-) The question was posed for selfish reasons, but it will help guide me in making something that may benefit others. To this end, I am interested in what developers feel would help FreeDOS. Your opinions may help shape some current work. I appreciate all input, both on this mailing list and received privately. Please continue to send them, regardless of whether or not you feel it is achievable or acceptable. You can ask Jim, and he can tell you that nearly everyone thought that we could not achieve what we have today. I will post a summary of what I receive here, so that everyone will benefit from this poll. Thanks.
