Hi people,
I have no idea what happened either, but I know that Jack
is upset very often. So it is no surprise that he no longer
publishes his QDMA QHIMEM QCDROM drivers. Actually those
drivers are closed-source versions of his XDMA and XCDROM
drivers (QHIMEM was never open source, plus it is based on
source code of questionable origin). The X to Q transition
also happened when Jack was upset about something.

Luckily the XDMA and XCDROM drivers were originally GPL
software, open source and really free, so those drivers
survive every flamewar and every developer mood problem.

You can get those really nice drivers (Jack might have
his moods, but his drivers are good :-)) on IBIBLIO:

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/util/system/xcdrom/
http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/micro/pc-stuff/freedos/files/dos/udma/xdma/

Note that the drivers are not freedos specific. They can
be used with every DOS. It is simply because FreeDOS was
the first project which mirrored his drivers on ibiblio
that they are now in the "freedos" directory there :-).

Newest versions are XDMA 3.3 and XCDROM 2.2 - both from
February 2006. In that month, QCDROM 1.0 and QDMA 1.2
were available as well. I do not know which improvements
got added to QCDROM and QDMA in March and April and whether
it would be worth the effort to try to find out and add
similar improvements to XCDROM and XDMA. But, as said,
the XCDROM and XDMA drivers are already nice as they are.
