Not sure if it's already been noticed, but the wiki at
http://wiki.fdos.org has been pretty heavily spammed with Cialis crap,
several pages completely replaced.
Unfortunately they keep doing it which means I am going to have to setup
the wiki so people have to create a username/password to edit pages and
have all pages require authorization (a valid username/password). Of
course someone can still create one and make their changes, but maybe it
will reduce the frequency (although it will also probably reduce the few
non-core developers that contribute).
Is it a small set of pinheads doing this or has some weasel written a
spambot popular among a whole bunch of subweasels which goes around
spamming Wiki sites? On my forum, /24 IP range denials for the entire site
damp that sort of nonsense down pretty quickly, but if this is a widespread
attack, ranged lockouts obviously wouldn't be a workable solution.
We probably shouldn't call this spam, since it's difficult to believe
random Wiki spam for Cialis would truly drive anyone to a site to purchase
it. Looks more like pure proof of concept/drive-by vandalism dressed up in
a spam suit.
