No, you haven't made a case for me. If there is a serious error in EMM386, meaningful recovery to DOS without fatal consequences would be almost impossible anyway. I do not as yet accept the assumption that adding another layer of exception handling to EMM386 would make any great difference in aiding development or increasing stability.
I am not sure what part of minor and obvious your changes would fall under, but I'm not inclined to debate the issue at this time.
