Hi Robert

I'm the new maintainer for the fd-doc project, I came back from a trip I
made last Tuesday and could not get in touch with you before.

So, I'm gonna introduce myself to you before I write to the list saying I'm
the new maintainer of the fd-doc project.

My name is Carlos Alberto Bonamigo, 31 years old and trying to find a way to
participate in an open source project.

I like DOS and by consequence FreeDOS, and used it so many times to play
doom, duke nukem use wordstar, inet, BBSing and also used HELP a hole
fuck*ng lot.

So, please came back! Stay, the community will thank you later, A LOT. I
kept your e-mail about the html pages and also about wiki as a plataform for
the fd-doc project. That would be great!

I hope I can change your mind and please come back.

Carlos AB

->
-> Given the bitterness of recent discussions, my wish is
-> now to leave the FreeDOS project and lists completely.
->
-> People have been responding to my post about who
-> should write the html etc. It seems that my subsequent
-> apology has been overlooked:
->
-> Last friday I wrote:
-> > ... we have a single, centralised
-> > collection of html pages, and I can hardly blame
-> > maintainers for not emailing me html files. I
-> > apologise for being more harsh than is necessary.
-> > The FreeDOS community, for its size, does

->
-> I now wonder how well we are doing, when so many
-> people believe the help project to be of minor
-> importance.
->
-> In my defence, I must point out the contradiction
-> between the belief that the html only takes a few
-> minutes to do, and the statement that developers just
-> don't have the time. I'll tell you the absolute truth
-> -- I can knock up a new help file in ten minutes,
-> based on one of the existing files. But I also spend
-> many hours investigating the various options and
-> features of the programs. I am not still arguing that
-> developers should write html, after all it could take
-> a developer some time to get used to writing for html
-> help. But for me as the maintainer, I sometimes can't
-> figure out all the options in a program. You have to
-> be really involved in all the various projects to
-> understand all the issues and features with each
-> command. I am not Eric, or Jim. With all the time in
-> the world I doubt I could match their expertise.
->
-> I am very reluctant to leave under such bitter
-> circumstances, but with the views that many
-> FreeDOS-devel members have, I won't be dissuaded.
->
-> I therefore returning to my original plan, leaving the
-> FreeDOS project entirely. In addition to leaving
-> htmlhelp, I will discontinue maintainence of
-> fasthelp/whatis/apropos (the linux-style help
-> programs). This project is therefore also up for
-> grabs.
->
-> Contact Simon Waite mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] if you
-> need to take over the htmlhelp/fasthelp project
-> website.
->
-> I said there was a potential new maintainer for
-> htmlhelp, but this is not the case. No-one has been in
-> touch with me. Should anyone be interested please
-> discuss with Jim Hall.
->
-> All my original work is covered under either the GNU
-> GPL or GNU FDL license, and in any case you all have
-> my blessing despite any differences. I hope the help
-> projects finally finds a good home, and wish the
-> FreeDOS community all the best in the future.
->
-> A final farewell
-> Rob
