Hi Michael, Can you rebuild digikam, capture all of the output and post it here so we can see what's going on during the configuration stage? I started a build here, and it was happy with the libkipi that it found in /usr/local/kde4/lib/libkipi.so.8. It's still in progress, so maybe it still won't run, but it would be helpful to see your build output anyway.
