Hi!
Hello,
I want to add QymCAD to FreeBSD ports collection. One of the problems is
that it depends on OpenCASCADE 7.9.3 which was removed from FreeBSD ports
some time ago. My question is: is it possible to re-introduce OpenCASCADE
7.9.3 to ports ? How problematic is that and what it takes ?
There is cad/opencascade, version 8.0.1 and
cad/opencascade740, version 7.4.0.
Can QymCAD work with one of those versions ? If not, why not ?
It would be better to migrate QymCAD to OpenCASCADE 8!
Upstream published a guidance for the migration: see
https://occt3d.com/dev/doc/overview/html/occt__upgrade.html

Outdated versions of software often have known security issues that will
never be fixed. Also, the effort to maintain such a port will likely
grow over time as other software it depends on is moving forward and
leaving it behind. An exception to this would be where upstream is
actually maintaining a legacy branch for a while due to API changes that
require significant effort to adapt to.
