I see. You can of course use those binaries if you like. The goal of the port and those binaries are different: the binaries are indeed optimized for SSE2 and SSE3 enabled 64-bit (amd64) machines and will not run on other machines. The port is more like a wrapper around the native source code so it will run on any FreeBSD machine.
