VBox additions is version 4.3.36 (as part of the ports) and the corresponding modifications as outlined in https://wiki.freebsd.org/VirtualBox#Installing_Guest_Additions_for_FreeBSD_guests have been implemented. Gnome fails as part of the session initialisation process when /usr/local/bin/VBClient-all invokes /usr/local/bin/VBClient --seamless.
