Yes, there have been some changes. The most important was the interface polling addition, but that should not make any difference here. Can you start dhclient with -d -v and see what it's doing ? And can you try the same with a old dhclient and see if the behaviour is different ? It could also help to compile dhclient with -DDEBUG and see if you get more information.
