I think there is some confusion in this thread. Ipfilter is still part of
-current, but the various kernel config options have been split into two
files. /sys/conf/NOTES includes the various machine independent (MI) bits,
including ipfilter. The NOTES file in /sys/i386/conf is restricted to
things that are specific to the i386 platform, including pentium, amd,
etc.

We don't have a whole lot of ipfilter documentation in freebsd because
ipfilter works the same way here as it does on other os'. See for example,
