Apply the patches Jeremy Lea ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) posted last week. They might be incorrect but at least they'll give you a working installation of X. (Don't forget to compile XFree86-4-clients before the main XFree86-4 port.) As a side-note: GCC3 doesn't seem to be able to compile X with -march=athlon, so if you've got an Athlon CPU, your best bet is probably to change CPUTYPE to i686 before starting the compilation.
