FYI, the current pax implementation is able to handle the following
archives from ftp://ftp.fokus.gmd.de/pub/unix/star/testscripts/ :

        100char_longlink.tar
        gtarfail.tar
        gtarfail2.tar

but miserably fail on this one :

        long.ustar.gz
