I just committed a change to the loader and kernel Makefiles such that the kernel is now named "kernel.ko" and it the modules live in ``/boot/kernel'' (and ``/boot/kernel.old''). After your next world build, the loader will not load ``/kernel'' by default, so you want to make sure you build and install a kernel using sources matching the loader source.
