No, it isn't, I do the same things with Poudriere.

And every so often, when there have been a lot of developments (additions/deletions of packages, try-outs, etc.) on a server, things can get a bit muddy.

Deinstalling all ports and installing only the ones you actually need from then on is a (/so far/) trusted solution for housekeeping.
