Thanks for the tip. I will likely go ahead and install the am-utils port as 
from looking
at the setup and features of autofs it is way more complex and does more than I 
need or
want. I've been using amd for decades now and it does exactly what I need w/o 
any special
setup or configuration required.  :)

I do wonder though, are there plans to remove it from ports? I hope not. I find 
autofs to
be way overkill for my needs.
