Ugh, Supermicro is big pain.

Try CentOS, also try Debian.  Just to see.  Maybe you get lucky, and one
of them hangs too... Debian usually runs older kernels, so more likely
to not have a workaround.

Best solution: new mainboard vendor, until Supermicro works out their
dumb firmware and makes it less dumb. :(
