'man portmaster' provides a straight-forward procedure or this, but it will miss a few things do to complex dependencies involved in thongs like gnome2 and kde. These ports use "tricks" to keep the dependency tree under some control, but at a cost of occasionally missing things. Still, it gets you most of the way very easily. See the examples at the end of the man page. -- R.
