Peter already mentioned why that isn't necessary. I just want to add a caution to folks out there. Don't go wild with weak symbols. Think VERY carefully (and get a review) before using them. They should be treated as an absolute last resort. You can paint yourself into a corner before you know it, and you won't find out until it's time to upgrade something and you suddenly realize that none of your old executables will run any more.
