Becaue they have data corruption bugs that can only partially be
worked around.  Linux' work arounds have had reports of rare data
corruption as well, even though they work most of the time.  ditto
with the old driver.  These chips are POS.

I don't know if Soren has taken the time to try to support the chip or
not.  I do know that he's written at length in the past about the
difficulty in supporting them.
