OK; I got to the point of actually booting up 4.0-20000208-CURRENT in multi-user mode. Very few "tweaks" were necessary to make it come very close to "playing nice" with the other boxen in the local net; my thanks to all who worked so hard on this! Now, I tried using "xon" to fire up an xterm running on the 4.0 box, displaying back here on my desktop. No go. So I used rsh to get a command-line prompt on the 4.0 box, set the DISPLAY variable appropriately, fired up xterm, and got: eng-backup[4]% xterm /usr/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libXThrStub.so.6" not found Oh. :-( OK; I realize this is much more of an X-flavored thing. And I don't use the box as an X server (gack!), but I do lilke to fire up remote xterms from time to time.... So I'm building amanda now; we'll see how that part goes. (I *just* recalled that the name of the (SCSI) tape device is a bit different now....)
